Independent Project #1

1. What type of photography did you pick to do for your project? Explain what it is.

I chose to do portraits in nature surroundings such as trees, leaves and sunflowers. I would also like to show fall colors in my photographs and the beauty of nature.

2. How are you going to shoot the images for this project?

I will borrow Ms. Caruso's camera with the special lens because it allows me to focus on what I want and allow me to emphasize on everything I would like. Also, this special lens works so nice when it comes to taking good quality images.

3. Is there any thing specific that you need to have for your images?

These photos must be taken in the day in order to see all the green in the trees and the nature colors that are shown. I will also need a model to make these images pop and to show happiness of being outside and interacting with nature.

4. Where are you going to shoot these images?

I will shoot these images at the bosque on Rio Bravo because I am very familiar with this place and I have shot other nature photos in this same place. There is also some really nice sunflowers that I would like to attempt to take pictures with.

5. Why did you want to try doing this type of photography for this project?

Nature portraits have sort of grown to become my favorite type of pictures to take and I had to take portraits of my friend Tomasa because she was running for homecoming queen and she wanted nature type of images to promote herself. Homecoming was also during fall so she wanted to take advantage of the season.

Independent Project #2

1. What type of photography did you pick to do for your project?

I chose to do portraits with a diverse group and although they will be in black and white, I would like them to be taken with natures surrounding such as trees, flowers, bushes, and all nature things.

2. How are you going to shoot the images for this project?

I will be shooting with a group of people and I will place them in the center of the photograph in order to create this certain nature background for these portraits.

3. Is there any thing specific that you need to have for your images?

The location must be where there is plenty of trees and just any type of environment that can show that these photographs are heading towards a fall vibe to them and these must be taken in the day to show the glow on the models and make them stand out. The models should all be different and show new faces in order to show diversity through my pictures and to have everyone express their own self.

4. Where are you going to shoot these images?

I will be planning on shooting these images at the bosque that is on Rio Bravo because there its lot of trees and now during the fall time, the leaves are turning yellow and orange which makes the photo more appealing.

5. Why did you want to try doing this type of photography for this project?

I wanted to work with a diverse group because everyone has a different style and their own way of showing emotion through the camera. Also, I wanted to shoot with more than just one model because everyone is different in their own ways and its nice to see different faces and the way they show who they are.

Independent Project #3

1. What did you pick to do your project on?

- I chose a silhouette theme for my images. Silhouette is a dark shape and outline of someone or something visible against a lighter background and I chose this to give my images a mysterious vibe and leave people wondering who the subject is.

2. What did you do to get the image?

- I needed lights in order to place them behind me and create the silhouette/ shadow look. I also wanted to use a white backdrop to make the shadow of myself stand out more.

3. What editing did you have to do to your images?

- I colored the background white because the white backdrop in my images didn't stand out as much as I wanted them to and I also lowered my brightness to make myself appear darker to fulfill that silhouette look. I also added a blue tint to my images to give it a cool effect.

4. What did you learn about this kind of photography by shooting it?

- You must have light behind he subject to make the subject appear dark but if you used natural sun light to take these images like me, there cant be too much light in the room because then the subject wont appear as a silhouette. You will still be able to distingush the persons face or appearances.

5. Was there anything you found difficult about creating these images?

- Since I am my own model, it's always a hassle trying to take images of myself because I don't know what they will come out to look like since I cant see through the viewfinder. Also, it was difficult to create that silhouette look by making myself appear dark because there was too much so you were still able to see me.

6. How do you think they came out overall? Could they be better? Why?

- I think they came out nicer than I expected them to. Some of the images I took could've came out better if I would've had less light in the room that way I could've appeared darker and actually fulfill the silhouette look. I still needed to finish up editing some of them so I wasn't completely finished with this project.

7. What are you thinking about doing for your next independent project?

- I think I would like to continue the silhouette images because it was really fun shooting these and I love how they came out.

Independent Project #4

1. What type of photography did you pick to do for your project?

- I chose to take portraits of some of my friends from Fashion Club for my project.

2. How are you going to shoot the images for this project?

- I'm going to take medium close up and close up shots of my models.

3. Is there any thing specific that you need to have for your images?

- I just needed models. I didn't need a tripod or lights because we were taking it in the sunlight and I was able to hold it myself since I was the photographer.

4. Where are you going to shoot these images?

- I'm going to shoot these images at the Route 66 Diner that is located on Central. There is a wall right next to it with vintage items such as license plates and road signs stuck to the wall. This would be a really cool back ground for the images.

5. Why did you want to try doing this type of photography for this project?

- The Fashion Club teacher asked if I could take pictures of the whole group so I decided to use these images as my project. I've also always wanted to shoot at this location so I took advantage of this opportunity.

1. What did you pick to do your project on?

- I took medium close up and close up portraits of my models at the Route 66 Diner wall.

2. What did you do to get the image?

3. What editing did you have to do to your images?

- I cropped some of the images so that the models/ subjects were centered in the image. I also added some color filters to give the image a blueish tint and removed some blemishes on the models face.

4. What did you learn about this kind of photography by shooting it? Explain.

5. Was there anything you found difficult about creating these images?

- I'm used to taking portraits so it wasn't difficult for me to take these because I'm used to the camera and I'm comfortable with it. It was just a bit hard coming up with different poses for the models to do.

6. How do you think they came out overall? Could they be better? Why?

- I feel like they came out fine but they could've definitely been better. There was many shadows on the face and the images weren't perfectly f

7. What are you thinking about doing for your next independent project?

- I'm choosing to do portraits again but with a neutral colored background and portray romanticism with these images. I wan't to give this image a natural look
